What makes a Kanchipuram saree genuine

• Pure mulberry silk woven on a handloom, traditionally in and around Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu.
• Silk Mark — a label from the Silk Mark Organisation of India certifying pure silk.
• Korvai technique — the border and body are often woven separately and interlocked; a contrast border is a classic sign.
• Heavier weight — genuine pieces feel substantial compared with powerloom imitations.

Pure zari vs. tested zari

Neither is “fake” — they’re different price points. What matters is knowing which you’re paying for.
