1. Who we are

Your India Buddy (“we”, “us”) is based at 1/5, Barathiyar St, S2 Vasantham Apartments, Saligramam, Chennai 600093, India, and is responsible for the personal data described in this policy. We process personal data in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable laws.

2. What we collect

Your product list and details are also saved in your own browser (local storage) while you build a request, so you don't lose your work. This stays on your device and you can clear it at any time.

3. How we use your data

• To review your request, prepare quotes, purchase products and coordinate shipping.
• To contact you about your request by email, phone or WhatsApp.
• To share necessary details with sellers and courier partners (for example, your delivery address).
• To keep records required for accounting, tax and legal purposes.
• To protect our website against spam, fraud and misuse.

We use your data because you have asked us to provide a service, and with your consent when you submit a form. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not send marketing messages without your permission.

4. Who we share it with

• Sellers — only what is needed to purchase your items.
• Courier and logistics partners — recipient name, address, phone and shipment contents, as required for delivery and customs.
• Customs and government authorities — where required by law.
• Service providers — our website hosting, email and messaging providers (including WhatsApp), who process data on our behalf.

Some of these parties may be located outside India. Where data is transferred, we rely on providers with appropriate safeguards.

5. How long we keep it

We keep request and order records for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations (normally up to 8 years for financial records). Contact form messages are kept for up to 2 years. Order PDFs shared through private links may be deleted sooner.

6. How we protect it

We use HTTPS encryption on our website, restrict access to stored data, and keep order documents in protected storage that is not publicly listed. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.

7. Your rights

You can ask us to:

• access the personal data we hold about you;
• correct or update inaccurate data;
• erase your data, where we are not required to keep it by law;
• withdraw consent you have given; and
• nominate another person to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity.

To make a request or raise a grievance, email yourindiabuddy@gmail.com with the subject “Privacy request”. We will respond within a reasonable time and in any case as required by law. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.

8. Cookies and third-party content

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, a map from Google Maps on the contact page, and PDF tools from a public content network; these providers may receive your IP address when the page loads. Clicking WhatsApp links opens WhatsApp, which has its own privacy policy.

9. Children

Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page with the date it was last updated.
