Shipping is often the biggest cost when you buy from India. The good news: most of it is avoidable. Consolidating your purchases into a single well-packed box is the easiest way to pay less.
Why one box costs less than many
International courier rates have a high first-kilogram price and much cheaper additional kilograms. Five separate 1 kg parcels each pay that first-kilogram price; one 5 kg box pays it once. You also pay one set of customs handling fees instead of five.
Understand volumetric weight
Couriers charge for whichever is greater: the actual weight or the volumetric weight, calculated from the box size (length × width × height ÷ a divisor, commonly 5000 for cm/kg). A light but bulky box — like pillows or a large soft toy — can cost more than a small heavy one.
